I need a haircut
So you cant get a haircut on thursdays in Cyprus. Grant(my roomate) and i walked around for a good two hours the other day looking for a place to do so. We found many, but all were closed. Yesterday we went to the Troodos mountains to do some hiking for the entire day, and today they closed at one. Had it not been for our British Army friends having the need to constantly challenge our college boy drinking skills every night at our favorite bar, we would have absolutely been able to meet that one o'clock deadline. Yet, insetead, like always, we decided to accept their challenge that landed us in our bed at six am. Needless to say, we still need haircuts!
This place is awesome.
It has now been a bit over a week and i have had fun every single minute. There are about 60 people in my group, and including me, there are a total of 8 guys for the 52 girls to choose from. I like this. I live with three other guys-Grant (my closest friend) Brian, and Antonio. Grants from PA but goes to school down south. Brian is from SC and stayed in the south for school, and Antonio is also from PA but goes to an all black school in DC. Grant, Antonio and I are usually the ones to go out together, but as of recent we have been becoming close with two others. Mike from Castle Rock, and Kameron from San Fran.
This trip is really just girls galore. Even if they don't like us, they really have no choice when looking for male companionship haha. Its either the five of us, the three other smelly kids, or the creepy Cypriot men. Really just a great ego booster i suppose.
Our apartment is also quite awesome. Big enough for four and have three large and furnished balconies. Great views. Cant wait till it gets hot out! we plan to move our couch onto the biggest balcony. There are a few "minor" set backs to our place however. We only have running water 4 days a week, and we cannot use our toilets for anything more than urination. Well, techincaly we can, but wed rather not have to put our TP in the garbage can. Apparently Cypriot plumbing cannot take anything but excrement. SO, we just go to the hardware store across the street when duty calls. Its a tough way to live i guess, but the alternative would just stink. Haha two puns in two sentences. Awesome. We also just make sure to remind each other every time were at a place with a bathroom.
School starts on monday. Pretty excited. Have just been doing orientation stuff this week. Been pretty fun. Has been leaving us with a lot of free time tho.
Planning to go to Egypt next weekend with a small group of kids. A huge group of kids are going on the 18th, but many of them are the loud obnoxious touristy type who will most likely get robbed. We don't want to get robbed. Cant wait to go. Pyramids-one of three wonders i will see while abroad.
Im not sure what else i have to say that would be "blog appropriate," but i want all who read this to know i am safe and plan to be for the rest of the time abroad.
Keep you posted.
Oh and our comforters smell like throw up.
